In 1970, when Georgia Driving School was first opened by David Jett, motor vehicles, roads and traffic conditions were much different from those of today. In 1973, seat belts were optional equipment, air bags were people who talked too much, and the term "anti-lock brakes" wasn't even in our vocabulary. In 1970, the national interstate system wasn't finished and two-lane highways were the norm. In 1970, there were only 96 million licensed drivers, 87 million vehicles, 47,700 motor vehicle-related fatalities and approximately 1.5 disabling injuries.
Today it's a whole new scene out there!
Today, four-lane highways are the norm. Today we have 79 million more licensed drivers and 112 million more registered vehicles on the road. Today, more than 37 years later, despite new safety features on vehicles and improved highways more than 40,000 people are still killed in traffic collisions every year, and more than two million people suffer disabling injuries.
What do these numbers tell us?
Safer vehicles and highway design may be saving many lives, but safer drivers cannot be designed by transportation and safety engineers. Safe drivers are created through a personal commitment, a commitment to drive in ways that save lives. This is our top priority at Georgia Driving School. To help, David Jett and his staff of professional instructors have taught thousands of students to drive safely and defensively. His personal commitment and dedication to the driving school industry has made this school one of Georgia's finest. David Jett trains all of our instructors himself as well as the many instructors from all over the world he trained at the California Driving School when he began his career in 1960. His attention to detail has paid off. Our instructors are up-to-date with many of today's vehicles. The latest techniques our students are taught can make the difference between life and death and health and injury. We know your experience with Georgia Driving School will be enjoyable and you will benefit from the skills you have been taught for the rest of you life.
